Description

This No-Bake Licorice Allsorts Slice combines the nostalgic flavors of licorice with a creamy coconut base and a rich chocolate topping. It’s an easy, colorful dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/2 cups desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup icing sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 395g sweetened condensed milk
  • Pink food coloring (a few drops)
  • Green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 150g Arnott’s Marie biscuits (or any plain tea biscuits)
  • 50g butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons condensed milk (extra)
  • 200g dark chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
  • 1 packet licorice allsorts, chopped (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Line a 20cm x 20cm (8″ x 8″) square baking tin with baking paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
  2. In a food processor, crush the Marie biscuits until they resemble fine crumbs. Alternatively, crush them in a sealed plastic bag using a rolling pin.
  3. In a bowl, combine the crushed biscuits with melted butter and 3 tablespoons of condensed milk. Mix until well combined and press into the base of the prepared tin.
  4. Refrigerate to firm while preparing the coconut layer.
  5. In a large bowl, mix the desiccated coconut, icing sugar, and 395g of condensed milk until well combined.
  6. Divide the coconut mixture into three portions. Leave one white, add pink food coloring to the second, and green to the third. Mix until colors are distributed evenly.
  7. Remove the tin from the refrigerator. Layer the colored coconut mixtures on top of the biscuit base, either in distinct layers or swirled together.
  8. Press down firmly on the coconut layer to compact it and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  9. Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl, in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
  10. Pour melted chocolate over the coconut layer and evenly spread.
  11. Sprinkle chopped licorice allsorts over the chocolate, pressing them in slightly.
  12. Refrigerate for 2-3 hours or until set.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, replace Marie biscuits with gluten-free plain cookies.
  • Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts for added texture.
  • The slice lasts up to 7 days in the fridge when stored in an airtight container.
