Description
Delicious grilled chicken souvlaki marinated in feta cheese and herbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1/2 cup feta cheese, crumbled
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Wooden skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine crumbled feta cheese, olive oil, lemon juice, dried oregano, minced garlic, salt, and pepper to create the marinade.
- Cut the chicken breasts into 1-inch cubes and add them to the marinade. Stir to ensure all pieces are well coated.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably 4 hours to allow the flavors to infuse.
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked wooden skewers.
- Grill the skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks.
- Remove the skewers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
- Serve the chicken souvlaki with your choice of pita bread, tzatziki sauce, or a fresh salad.
Notes
- For best flavor, marinate the chicken for up to 4 hours.
- Serve with tzatziki sauce for a traditional Greek experience.
- Soak skewers in water to prevent burning on the grill.
