Description

Hello food lovers! Are you on the hunt for a hearty, quick, and satisfying dinner idea? Look no further than this homemade Hamburger Helper recipe! Packed with comforting flavors, this dish is a perfect dinner solution that’s both kid-approved and adult-friendly. Let’s dive into this easy, cheesy, and utterly delicious dinner idea.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound extra lean ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste, heaping
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup uncooked elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups freshly grated cheddar cheese
  • Salt & pepper, to taste

Instructions

Step1: Brown the Beef

In a large soup pot, cook the ground beef and onions over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

Step2: Add Seasonings

Stir in the tomato paste, garlic powder, and chili powder. Mix well to coat the beef evenly.

Step3: Add Broth and Macaroni

Pour in the beef broth, bring to a boil, then add the uncooked macaroni. Lower the heat to a rapid simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed.

Step4: Add Cheese

Remove the pot from heat, stir in the freshly grated cheddar cheese, and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Notes

  • Use fresh, sharp cheddar for the best flavor.
  • Adjust the seasoning to suit your taste; add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • If the dish starts to stick while cooking, add more beef broth in 1/2 cup increments.
