Description

Moist spiced apple cake topped with rich cream cheese frosting—easy, cozy, and perfect for fall gatherings or everyday treats.


Ingredients

  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp nutmeg
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup applesauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 ½ cups chopped apples
  • ½ cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 8 oz cream cheese
  • ½ cup butter
  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Whisk flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk eggs, sugars, oil, applesauce, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Fold dry ingredients into wet mixture. Add apples and nuts.
  5. Pour batter into pan. Bake 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Cool completely before frosting.
  7. Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Add vanilla and salt. Gradually mix in powdered sugar.
  8. Spread frosting over cooled cake and refrigerate until ready to serve.
