This Super Simple Oven-Barbequed Chicken offers juicy, tender meat with a smoky barbecue flavor that feels like it’s been slow-cooked on an outdoor grill, using only pantry staples and minimal prep time.

- 6 bone-in chicken breast halves, with skin (substitute with thighs or drumsticks if desired)
- Cooking spray
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon hickory-flavored liquid smoke
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 2 teaspoons ground cumin
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 2 teaspoons dried oregano
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Pat the chicken pieces dry with paper towels.
- In a small bowl, combine Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke.
- In another bowl, mix chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, salt, and pepper.
- Brush each chicken piece with the Worcestershire and liquid smoke mixture.
- Rub the spice mixture onto each chicken piece, getting under the skin where possible.
- Arrange chicken pieces on the baking sheet, skin side up, not touching each other.
- Bake uncovered for 45-50 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and skin is crispy and caramelized.
- Optional: Turn the broiler on for the last 2-3 minutes for extra crispy skin, watching carefully.
- Remove from oven and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
