Description
The Sirloin Steak with Garlic Butter recipe offers a simple yet flavorful way to enjoy a restaurant-quality steak at home, featuring tender sirloin steak enhanced with a rich garlic butter sauce.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 sirloin steaks (8 oz each), at room temperature
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon kosher salt
- 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cloves garlic, minced (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- A squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, thyme leaves, sea salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Transfer the butter mixture onto a piece of plastic wrap. Roll into a log shape, twist the ends to secure, and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes while you prepare the steaks.
- Remove steaks from the refrigerator 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
- Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. Brush both sides with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
- Heat a large cast-iron skillet over high heat until very hot (about 2 minutes).
- Gently place the steaks in the hot skillet. Cook for approximately 3-4 minutes on the first side without moving, flip once and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare (internal temperature of 135°F).
- During the last minute of cooking, add a slice of the prepared garlic butter to the top of each steak, allowing it to begin melting.
- Remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a cutting board or warm plate for 5 minutes before serving.
- Serve each steak with an additional slice of garlic butter on top, allowing it to melt over the hot steak.
Notes
- The secret to perfect steak is getting your pan extremely hot before adding the steaks.
- Make the garlic butter a day ahead to let the flavors develop fully.
- Use a meat thermometer for precision cooking.
- Store leftover steak in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
