Description
Lemon Pepper Chicken Tenders are crispy, flavorful chicken strips marinated in a zesty lemon mixture and coated with breadcrumbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb chicken breast tenders
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the lemon zest, lemon juice, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well.
- Add the chicken tenders to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Set up a breading station with three separate bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Remove the chicken from the marinade, allowing the excess to drip off.
- Dredge each chicken tender in flour, shaking off the excess.
- Dip the floured chicken tender into the beaten eggs, coating it completely.
- Finally, coat the chicken tender in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the chicken tenders.
- Fry the chicken tenders for 4-5 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove the chicken tenders from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, double coat chicken tenders by repeating the egg and breadcrumb steps.
- Try serving with aioli or honey mustard for a delicious dipping option.
