Description

This Lemon Garlic Tilapia recipe is a simple and delicious weeknight dinner option that combines zesty lemon and savory garlic for a flavorful dish. Ready in just 20 minutes, it’s perfect for busy families or anyone looking for a healthy, easy meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 tilapia fillets (about 4–6 oz each)
  • 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (or olive oil for a dairy-free option)
  • 1 clove garlic, finely chopped (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder)
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes (or 1 tablespoon fresh, chopped)
  • Pepper to taste
  • Nonstick cooking spray
  • Optional: lemon slices and fresh herbs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly coat a baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Rinse the tilapia fillets under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  3. In a small bowl, combine the fresh lemon juice, melted butter, chopped garlic, dried parsley, and pepper. Mix well to create your lemon garlic sauce.
  4. Pour the lemon garlic mixture evenly over the tilapia fillets, making sure each fillet is well-coated.
  5. If desired, place thin lemon slices on top of each fillet for extra flavor and a beautiful presentation.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork and has reached an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
  7. For a slight browning on top, switch your oven to broil for the last 2 minutes of cooking time, watching carefully to prevent burning.

Notes

  • Don’t overcook: Tilapia cooks quickly and continues to cook after removing from heat. Remove it from the oven as soon as it flakes easily to prevent dryness.
  • Pat the fillets dry thoroughly before seasoning to ensure proper browning.
  • For a crispy top, finish under the broiler or in a hot skillet after baking.
  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
