Description

These Holiday Breakfast Sandwiches combine cinnamon-spiced apples with sharp cheddar cheese and buttery biscuits for a festive, sweet-and-savory breakfast treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ⅓ cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 (10 ounce) can refrigerated biscuit dough
  • 1 cup shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 2 large Granny Smith apples – peeled, cored, and cut into rings
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well mixed.
  3. Separate the refrigerated biscuit dough into individual rounds and place half of them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them at least 2 inches apart.
  4. Sprinkle each biscuit with a portion of cheddar cheese, reserving some for the top.
  5. Place an apple ring on top of each cheese-covered biscuit.
  6. Sprinkle the brown sugar mixture evenly over the apple rings.
  7. Place the remaining biscuits on top of each stack to create a sandwich, gently pressing the edges to seal slightly.
  8. Brush the tops of the sandwiches with melted butter and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and cheese is melted.
  10. Allow to cool for 2-3 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use any firm apple variety like Honeycrisp, Braeburn, or Pink Lady.
  • For a more festive spice blend, add a pinch of nutmeg or cloves.
  • Ensure your cheese is made with vegetarian rennet for a vegetarian-friendly version.
  • Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes before serving.
