Ingredients
Scale
- 2¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon white sugar
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- 1 pinch ground black pepper
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 tablespoons high-quality extra virgin olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yeast, salt, sugar, garlic powder, oregano, thyme, basil, and black pepper.
- Make a well in the center and pour in the warm water and vegetable oil.
- Mix with a wooden spoon until the dough begins to come together, then turn onto a lightly floured surface.
- Knead the dough for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Shape into a ball and place in an oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap.
- Let the dough rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Lightly oil a 9×13-inch baking pan or sheet.
- Gently punch down the dough to release air bubbles and transfer it to the prepared pan.
- Using your fingertips, press the dough to fill the pan, creating dimples all over the surface.
- Drizzle with olive oil, making sure it pools in the dimples.
- Let rise for another 20 minutes until slightly puffy.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses evenly over the dough.
- Add any desired toppings.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until golden brown on top and cooked through.
- For an extra crispy crust, bake for an additional 3-5 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and let cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
