Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar.
  2. Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  6. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces.
  7. Roll each piece into a long rope, approximately 1 foot long.
  8. Twist the two ropes together to form a braid.
  9. Shape the braided dough into a circular wreath, pinching the ends to seal.
  10. Transfer the wreath to a lined baking tray, cover, and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.
  11. Brush the top of the wreath with olive oil and spread vegan pesto evenly over the surface.
  12. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  13. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
