- 2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup vegan pesto
- Olive oil for brushing
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, salt, and sugar.
- Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a long rope, approximately 1 foot long.
- Twist the two ropes together to form a braid.
- Shape the braided dough into a circular wreath, pinching the ends to seal.
- Transfer the wreath to a lined baking tray, cover, and let it rise for an additional 30 minutes.
- Brush the top of the wreath with olive oil and spread vegan pesto evenly over the surface.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
